Often times in boxing, due to a variety of reasons, the best possible fights aren’t made.

Other times, however, potential fights receive so much fan interest that promoters have no choice, but to strike a deal. With that being said, the time is now to book a Heavyweight title fight between Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder.

Joshua, a native of England, is a former Olympic gold medalist and the reigning WBA, IBF and IBO Heavyweight champion. Although he’s never competed in the United States before, Joshua has quickly become one of the biggest stars in the sport over the last few years, routinely  drawing large crowds in the UK.

Aside from his star power, he’s also proven to be a skillful, and powerful fighter. Holding a perfect professional record of 20-0, Joshua has won all 20 of his fights by knockout.

He also scored a career defining win over the legendary Wladimir Klitschko last April at Wembley Stadium in London, England. Other than that fight, however, the Brit has faced lackluster competition.

Wilder, meanwhile, has had even more trouble finding legitimate competition to face, which may be why he’s been campaigning so hard for a fight with Joshua. Nevertheless, the massive 32-year-old American holds a professional record of 39-0, with 38 knockouts.

He currently holds the WBC Heavyweight title, and although he hasn’t necessarily faced elite competition, his athleticism and tremendous power have steered him to success.

Not only does the fight make sense from a stylistic and rankings standpoint, as both men are clearly two of the best Heavyweights in the world, but the timing works out as well.

Joshua recently scored a 10th-round stoppage victory over Carlos Takam on October 28, 2017 in Cardiff, Wales, while Wilder violently stopped Bermane Stiverne in their rematch on November 4, 2017 in Brooklyn, New York.

Both men are in need of a fight, and the demand to see the two face off is at a high point.

With both men also having to deal with losing opponents in recent memory, it makes the most sense to match them up against each other to determine true Heavyweight supremacy.

Given that they’re in the primes of their respective careers, the time is now to book Joshua vs. Wilder.
